What is certain is that Alpine have announced Piastri will drive for them in 2023 – and he says he won’t. We now await their respective next steps... The Australian, it is believed, has an option elsewhere on the grid and is keener to take that up, rather than join Alpine. However, they did so without a quote form Piastri. This is not the done thing with driver announcements. They wanted to give last season’s F2 champion Piastri a year elsewhere on the grid in 2023, before drafting him in for 2024. They were hopeful the Spaniard would stay on for a third season but they were not prepared to offer him a straight two-year deal. This left Alpine with an empty seat alongside Esteban Ocon, who is contracted until the end of 2024, for next season.

Regarding student visas, only immigration offices of the countries you plan to study are authorised to issue a valid student visa. For instance, a general UK student visa only allows you to work up to 20 hours a week during the term. If you are signing an employment contract, here are a few essential things to check before putting your signature on it: This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. A recruitment agency’s request for a fee is likely a scam. I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year.

The ugly all-Aussie collision course as shock Ricciardo option ... (Fox Sports)

The ugly all-Aussie collision course as shock Ricciardo option emerges: 2023 F1 grid.

Kevin Magnussen has been among the biggest surprises of the season, making the most of his second chance at a F1 career. Ricciardo is after all contracted for 2023 but, if Piastri is to be believed, then there’s a vacancy at his old team that could keep his F1 career alive in the event of being pushed out of McLaren. That surprise U-turn for Ricciardo wouldn’t be as awkward as it seems given Alpine has changed management since he left, while team principal Otmar Szafnauer has left the door open to a return. It’s rare to see a driver at AlphaTauri with the sort of longevity Pierre Gasly is offering. Magnussen has been the star of the show for Haas, claiming five points finishes, including a stunning fifth in his return race. But now, according to Autosport, the only matter to solve in forcing Ricciardo out for Piastri is the matter of a settlement. It was thought to be good news for 21-year-old Melbournian Oscar Piastri who was a hot favourite to be promoted from his reserve driver role. He claimed points at seven of the first nine races in 2022 and now impressively sits ahead of Alonso and Ricciardo in the drivers’ standings. It’s hardly a surprise after Piastri effectively turned down a guaranteed seat in F1 on Wednesday, when he denied Alpine’s statement that said he would drive for the team in 2023. Despite rumours in the off-season that he might quit in the aftermath of that controversial 2021 Abu Dhabi decider, Hamilton is back and still has a score to settle. The only question mark earlier this season was around his teammate, Sergio Perez. Perez was a departure from the typical profile of a Red Bull recruit when he signed on for 2021 after his 30th birthday, and after several years in the sport. Ricciardo has been on an ugly collision course with his compatriot, Oscar Piastri. And if the reports from Friday are to be believed, McLaren has told him that he has lost out. 24-year-old Leclerc is signed up until 2026, and 27-year-old Sainz until the end of 2024.

However, as the events of this week have shown, with Alpine losing Fernando Alonso to Aston Martin and potentially losing Piastri to McLaren, there are questions about how well run the French team is and whether it will ever be more than a glorified midfield outfit. Most drivers would have felt disrespected and some would have made their feelings known in the media but Ricciardo has been remarkably professional in the face of Brown's manoeuvring. A relative unknown outside of motor racing like Piastri would not fill this gap that would be left by Ricciardo, who is one of the most unique personalities the sport has had in it for a long time. Replacing Ricciardo with another driver isn't going to change that, especially one who is likely going to come with the growing pains associated with any rookie driver in F1. Brown has been lucky that there have not been harsher questions asked about why, under his leadership, McLaren seems incapable of putting together a winning F1 race operation. Multiple sources have told ESPN that Piastri has signed an agreement with McLaren. Although the exact terms of that deal are unclear currently, it is believed Brown is determined to get him into the team's race car. McLaren CEO Zak Brown now appears to be playing a game of chicken with his superstar driver, waiting for him to walk away from his contract so he doesn't have to pay a heavy penalty for tearing it up before it expires at the end of 2023.
