Samson, Avesh, and the foundation stone | Cricbuzz.com (Cricbuzz)

A little more than nine years ago, in an IPL game played between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, an 18-year-old Sanju Samson cracked an ...

In that context, just like Samson, Avesh would believe his two-wicket haul is like a foundation stone on which he can build a structure with another impressive show in the last game. When Avesh's short and wide ball crashed into the boundary hoardings in his very first over of the innings, it seemed as if the Indian set-up's brains trust would be left disappointed once again. So when the captain and coach give you that kind of backing, then the player will perform well," he added. Due to a combination of factors, Samson hasn't been able to kick on and cement a place in the Indian limited-overs side. The kind of an innings where he showed glimpses of his class but nowhere near enough to make the No.5 slot his own. Avesh does have useful skills for the shortest format: Hit-the-deck bowling and when in rhythm, he can nail the yorkers.

Media Rights: ICC sends clarifications but broadcasters expect more ... (Cricbuzz)

The broadcasters say they are still in dark on how the ICC will decide on the Round 1 winners who will proceed to Round 2 bidding, should there be one.

The ICC tender is for the media rights of the next cycle of eight years (2024-31) and it is for the India territory alone. The broadcasters have been told that they will have a discount of 20 per cent if an event is relocated to a non-Indian time zone of more than four-hour difference. Equally puzzling, as an Indian industry executive said, is the ICC insistence on submission of financial bids on August 22, only for them to be opened four days later.

Pranay Suri: Carving his niche among the stars | Cricbuzz.com (Cricbuzz)

Pranay Suri, 29, admits to being in awe while sharing the dressing room at the Silicon Valley Strikers with former internationals Narsingh Deonarine and ...

If Unmukt Chand, with all his gravitas is the life of the team, Suri is the lifeblood that keeps the Strikers juggernaut hustling ahead. He feels Suri empathizes with the amateurs in the team who are required to make a step up in class and adopt the culture of professionalism the stars in the team are trying to inculcate. I am still not happy with the returns I have had with the bat this season in the MiLC. I wish to do much better," said Suri. Playing games in the Bay area and coming back to LA on Monday. Something which we did and him more so throughout the cricket season during college days" added Buch. Stanford won the titles in 2018 and 2019 under Suri's reign. Breaking free from the shadows of his more illustrious colleagues, Suri has managed to carve a niche for himself this season. While Suri may not be the big cheese in the Strikers' change room, a few would argue that he has been an important cog in the Strikers wheel.

With 15 deliveries remaining in the innings, Jacks came on strike for the 87th ball and struck a boundary off Payne to get to a 36-ball fifty.
