The display and hoisting of the National Flag is guided by the 'Flag Code of India 2002' and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.

It can be any size, but the length to height (width) ratio of the National Flag must be 3:2. It is part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” programme and the government has urged people to hoist or display the tricolour in their homes during this period. The campaign kickstarted on August 13 and will continue till August 15.

कड़े पुलोस बंदोबस्त के बीच मुख्यमंत्री एकनाथ शिंदे ने ध्वजारोहण किया। जिसके बाद शिंदे ने मीडिया से बातचीत करते हुए कहा कि देशभर में अमृत महोत्सव मनाया जा रहा है। नागरिकों में देशभक्ति की लहर दौड़ गई है। उन्होंने कहा कि वह इस अवसर पर सभी नागरिकों को शुभकामनाएं देते हैं। शिंदे ने यह भी कहा कि आनंद दिघे को खुशी है कि यह परंपरा ठाणे में शुरू की गई है। जिसमें सभी शिवसैनिक हिस्सा ले सकते है। पुलिस द्वारा इस शाखा में झंडा वंदन नहीं करने को लेकर नौपाडा पुलिस ने ठाकरे समूह के ठाणे के सांसद राजन विचारे, जिला प्रमुख केदार दिघे सहित अन्य शिवसैनिकों को नोटिस भेजा था। लेकिन इस नोटिस की परवाह न करते हुए दोनों ने झंडा वंदन में अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज कराई। इस दौरान दोनों गुटों के कार्यकर्ता भी आमने-सामने आ गए और कुछ देर के लिए तनावपूर्ण माहौल बन गया। लेकिन दोनों गुटों द्वारा सामंजस्य की भूमिका निभाने के कारण कानून-व्यवस्था की स्थिति नहीं बनी। इस मौके पर मुख्यमंत्री एकनाथ शिंदे, सांसद श्रीकांत शिंदे, ठाणे के पूर्व महापौर नरेश म्हस्के और शिंदे समूह के कई नेता भी मौजूद थे। ठाणे : ठाणे के तालाब पाली परिसर में स्थित शिवसेना (Shiv Sena) के केंद्रीय शाखा में झंडा वंदन को लेकर मध्य रात में होने वाला तनाव आखिरकार टल गया। दरअसल, ठाणे शहर में धर्मवीर आनंद दिघे (Dharamveer Anand Dighe) द्वारा शुरू की गई परंपरा के अनुसार, भारतीय स्वतंत्रता (Indian Independence) के अमृत का जश्न मनाते हुए, ठाणे शहर के केंद्रीय शिवसेना शाखा के परिसर में हर साल मध्यरात्रि ध्वजारोहण (Flag Hoisting) समारोह संपन्न हुआ। इस कार्यक्रम के दौरान शिंदे समूह और उद्धव ठाकरे समूह के लोगों ने अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज कराइ।

Radhakrishnan recalled that Karunanidhi had raised with then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi three issues — State autonomy, a separate flag for Tamil Nadu and the right for Chief Ministers to hoist the national flag. A report, ‘CMs to unfurl tricolour’, in The Hindu archives of July 31, 1974, said, “The Government of India has accepted the suggestion of the Tamil Nadu Government [headed by Karunanidhi] that Chief Ministers should be permitted to unfurl the national flag on August 15 in the State capitals”. The report added: “He (Karunanidhi) said this was in response to a complaint he made at a function in Madras in February that while the President unfurled the national flag in Delhi on the Republic Day and the Prime Minister on the Independence Day, the Chief Ministers did not enjoy even this privilege....” The change in photo does not come without a purpose.
