This film is so much a celebration of Indian culture, so deeply and naturally, I feel every single person is going to feel that when it releases in two days. I had gone there before my motion poster had been released and I had told myself that before the release of the film, I would definitely go there. Eventually, when I went there I felt, they could have gone there and gotten their darshan.

Brahmastra Review: Ayan Mukerji Film, Starring Ranbir Kapoor And ... (News18)

Brahmastra, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, is a solid and satisfying watch, a well-crafted film and an honest vision of Ayan Mukerji that needs to applauded.

The film is a visual feast which needs to be watched on the big screen. But at the heart of the film is an incredible performance by Ranbir Kapoor, who doesn’t just play Shiva he becomes him. The romance between Shiva and Isha is probably the weakest thing of the plot and sticks out like a sore thumb. She is simply terrific and really holds herself in this elaborate cast and effortlessly shines as the nemesis. The film has a few foot-tapping songs thanks to music composer Pritam and lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya But then again setting up a superhero isn’t easy and that is what the filmmaker has done in which the first chapter in the trilogy. And then we also have superstar [Shah Rukh Khan](https://www.news18.com/topics/shah-rukh-khan/) who plays Vanarastra in an extended cameo which is a completely paisa vasool moment. He is aided by an impressive cast who’re at the top of their game, including You’re riveted by the action, and by the drama that unfolds on big screen leading to an explosive finale. The journey begins with the legend of the Astras, or weapons of the light. The technical departments including sound, camera and editing come together to bring out a story in novel ways. It reflects the confidence of the young filmmaker.

'Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva' Review - Ayan Mukerji Promises ... (Digital Mafia Talkies)

Written and directed by Ayan Mukerji (with dialogues by Hussain Dalal), "Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva" states that the country's foundation is based on the.

The heroes keep saying that they’ve got to stop the villains from reuniting the pieces of the “Brahmastra,” and the villains keep saying that they’ve got to reunite the pieces of the “Brahmastra” over and over and over again. And, for a second, it even seems like Mukerji is going to base Shiva’s battle for the “Brahmastra” around this empathetic scenario and against the backdrop of Mumbai. While I can give the supporting cast a pass, I have to say to the central cast members that they should reconsider their priorities. If you want more quality fantasy films from Indian cinema, though, then watch stuff like “Tumbbad” and “ Like where he names Shah Rukh Khan’s character Mohan Bhargav (as a reference to “Swades”) and then makes Junoon’s henchmen refer to him as “scientist,” as if to ensure that we know that he’s making a pop culture reference; or when he introduces Nagarjuna’s Aneesh Shetty as a restoration architect and then keeps calling him “artist”; or practically everything and anything that Junoon does or says. The work by the stunt team is commendable. In the present day, when a villainess called Junoon (Mouni Roy) starts to steal those pieces from its protectors, the power of “Agnyastra” awakens in a DJ called Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor). Hence, that gives rise to the counter-question: why should a “way of living” that’s inherently exclusionary in nature be glorified by making it a part of modern pop culture? When this power collided with Earth, it led to the birth of divine “Astras” (weapons) like the “Agnyastra” (fire weapon), “Jalastra” (water weapon), “Vayuastra” (wind weapon), and others that were animal-based. When they take a break from that, the protagonists explain what we’ve already seen on-screen in a premonition or something that’s so blatantly obvious (like what the powers are or how they work) that it doesn’t need further explanation. They pledged allegiance to it, calling their alliance the “Brahmansh,” and passed on their powers and the duty of protecting the pieces of the “Brahmastra” from one generation to another. For that, they were given a boon, i.e., a “Brahma-Shakti” (a power related to the Indian god, Brahma).

Among the most important sequences in a fantasy series is the point when the hero discovers their superhuman powers and tests them out. In their first conversation, Isha asks Shiva, “Who are you?” A besotted Shiva responds with “What are you?” Till the end, we don’t get an answer for either. The visual effects are magnificent and just as you allow yourself to be mesmerised, the film cuts to Mumbai where its actual hero is worshipping in a Durga temple. The romance between Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) and Isha (Alia Bhatt) is an old school, chaste romance set in the contemporary world and as a result, the actors themselves don’t look too convinced about it. With his charm and comic timing, SRK easily draws you into the world of Brahmastra. Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, directed by Ayan Mukerji, was announced eight years ago and is one of the most expensive Indian films made till date with a whopping budget of Rs 410 crore.

Let us know in the comments below. Additionally, Ayan’s big ticket—milking Ranbir and Alia’s chemistry—is also a pretty thanda affair. Not just the dialogues, the backstories of the characters and their lives are sacrificed every couple of seconds for the sake of continuity. This is what you have to ask when you find out your partner is a superhero? Junoon, Shiva, Guruji and the clan work hard to keep Junoon away from the ‘Brahmastra’ but fail with Junoon being the 6th, maybe 8th, person to fall off of a cliff to their death. We are given context about Shiva’s origin—a confluence of Amrita and Dev—but it's too little too late. We wish she had more screen time than the few seconds we get to see her. However, “something is up” with the balance of this universe and a danger seems to be coming—which by the virtue of Ranbir being in the lead, is his responsibility and Isha’s by choice. After a cringey and borderline stalkerish meet-cute moment, Isha, despite her attempt at being individualistic, is nothing more than Shiva’s dangling toy. After spending a whopping budget of INR 410 crores and six years in the making, the film lacks any real depth or substance. When Ayan Mukerji argued that the story was inspired by Harry Potter, The Lord of The Rings and the Marvel Comics Universe, he failed to tell us just how “inspired” he really meant.
