The mother of all ironies: TIME Magazine thinks Mohammed Zubair ... (OpIndia)

TIME believes Mohammed Zubair who triggered Islamist violence in India, deserves to win Nobel Peace Prize 2022. | OpIndia News.

It was Mohammed Zubair who spearheaded a campaign against Nupur Sharma, accusing her of insulting the Prophet Muhammad and letting loose an army of Islamists against her that ultimately hacked Lal to death. And days later, the Hindu man was killed for something as trivial as just sharing a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma. In the aftermath of Kanhaiya Lal’s brutal beheading, TIME Magazine The police acted on the basis of a complaint filed against him by a Twitter user who cited the notorious fact-checker’s old tweet where he had a derogatory reference to Lord Hanuman. While Islamists went on a rampage on the streets in many cities across the country, it was essentially Mohammed Zubair who was responsible for kindling a fire that had gone on to assume uncontrollable proportions. However, in doing so, Sinha shared a picture from 2014, about two years before the Demonetisation to portray that the decision had caused misery among people. While exhibiting hypocrisies is a routine staple for TIME Magazine, it committed a mother of all ironies recently when it included Mohammed Zubair and Pratik Sinha of the Alt News in the list of deserving candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize 2022. And so, Lal was a marked man the moment he came out in support of Nupur Sharma. Several supporters of Zubair and Sinha took to social media to peddle fake news that the duo is shortlisted for the Nobel Peace Prize. The ominous hounding of Nupur Sharma prompted many to extend their support to her. In one instance, her effigy was left hanging from a cable, reminding Hindus of the fate that awaits them should they dare cite authentic and reliable Islamic Hadiths to comment on Prophet Muhammad. It also cleverly leaned on condemnation from leftist populated organisations to portray Zubair’s arrest as an act of retribution, drawing over a veil over his alleged culpability in hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus with his Hinduphobic posts.

Activists in China and Russia, the International Court of Justice and an Indian advocate of interfaith cooperation have been mentioned as front-runners.

In 2006, he established a website to draw attention to the discrimination faced by Uyghurs, as well as provide a platform for exchange between Uyghurs and Han Chinese, China’s largest ethnic group. He co-founded the pro-democracy Demosisto party in 2016 and was briefly elected as a lawmaker in the city before being disqualified for not taking the oath of office correctly. The decision is seen as mostly symbolic, as the court lacks a viable way to enforce its ruling. A prize for peace in a time of war. Who will win Friday's coveted ... (CNN)

A Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded in Norway on Friday, as Europe's biggest war for seven decades rages on the continent.

“Both Tsikhanouskaya and Navalny are vocal critics of the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Urdal wrote this year. “I quite admire them for the way that they do that.” “Hopefully, the war will come to an end and they will make peace,” he added. The Nobel Committee could emphasize this ruling as an attempt to stop the illegal war,” he wrote. “That’s a fact that should be respected in and of itself.” “Zelensky is a war leader, and what is happening at the moment is war. He was poisoned with a nerve agent in 2020, an attack several Western officials and Navalny himself openly blamed on the Kremlin. He raised Nadia Murad’s win in 2018 for working to end sexual violence as one such example. But the prize has frequently been used to highlight other ongoing conflicts, or to provide a beacon of hope when the world encountered grim times. But experts have highlighted a short list of frontrunners – while reserving the right to be surprised by a left-field decision. But experts in the fields of peace and security warn that the bleak geopolitical picture may muddle 2022’s award. 10, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death. But, five members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee could also nominate individuals and organizations up until their first meeting, which was at the end of February. Urdal said he very much doubts that the Zelenskyy would win given that that the deadline of the nominations was Jan. In 1957, the honour went to Lester Pearson “for his crucial contribution to the deployment of a United Nations Emergency Force in the wake of the Suez Crisis.” There was also some Canadian representation in 2017 when Setsuko Thurlow, a Canadian-Japanese survivor of the Hiroshima nuclear disaster accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). “I think the committee would probably be careful about awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to the head of state which is involved in armed conflict,” said Urdal. Since Russia launched its offensive against Ukraine on Feb. “There’s a lot of goodwill that President Zelenskyy has garnered in the West because of his defense of his people and his country,” said Jaramillo, which makes him one of the top contenders in many people’s eyes. However, there are also questions about the contradictory nature of giving a peace prize to a president currently at war. This is not the first time that the teenager has been considered among the favourites by bookkeeper’s, said Jaramillo, lauding the teenager for bringing the climate agenda to the fore of international consciousness. “I think it’s widely accepted that the Nobel Peace Prize is the most prestigious award in the world concerning peace efforts,” said Cesar Jaramillo, executive director of Project Ploughshares, a Canadian peace research institute. The Nobel Peace Prize should go to the person “who has done the most or best to advance fellowship among nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies, and the establishment and promotion of peace congresses,” according to the will of Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, who founded the awards.
