Incredibly happy to have come away with a point: Mumbai City FC ... (Indian Super League)

It was a spectacle in Pune as defending Hero Indian Super League (ISL) champions Hyderabad FC and Mumbai City FC played out an entertaining draw at the ...

I think we've certainly put that on for them tonight so we'll do our best to try and tidy up with the other end and not concede three. We've been very well looked after since we've been here, but to have the fans back in and put on a six-goal thriller for them was very enjoyable. They did not stop singing, chanting and creating a wonderful atmosphere alongside the Hyderabad fans for a game here in Pune which is out of the way for them and for us. I spoke before the game about the whole squad and how important the whole squad was going to be to make sure that we could affect change, goals and otherwise. Mumbai City FC dominated the first half and the game was really poised. Again, a wonderful coach as I spoke about before, and we're away from home, so to play against the defending champions and to come away with a point, I'm very happy.

The last chance of the game came in the second minute of added time at the end of the second half, when Hyderabad FC were awarded a corner. Hyderabad FC were getting desperate for an equaliser as they started launching the ball towards the Mumbai City FC goal in the dying embers of the first half. The Nizams were in the lead again as the scores read 3-2 thanks to Joao Victor’s second of the game. Soon after the restart in the 51st minute Hyderabad FC took the lead as they made it 2-1 thanks to Halicharan Narzary. The Islanders will return to the Mumbai Football Arena for the first time in nearly three years next weekend as we welcome back fans when we take on Odisha FC on Saturday, October 15. Hyderabad FC were trying to get on the ball from the restart and were finding it hard to penetrate into dangerous positions against a solid Mumbai City FC unit. In the opening minutes, they were controlling the ball well in midfield as Hyderabad FC were finding it tough to get a hold of the ball and break Mumbai City FC’s passing rhythm. In the added time at the end of the first half Apuia Ralte gave away a soft penalty as he brought down Ogbeche in the Islander’s box. However, in the 35th minute Fall headed the ball down from a corner to find Vinit Rai who improvised a cheeky header that went just over the Hyderabad FC goal. In the 23rd minute, a clearance from Mourtada Fall landed at the feet of Greg Stewart who played a smart ball through to Bipin to initiate a swift counter-attack. He moved the ball forward swiftly to Pereyra Diaz who played it through to Bipin Singh who shot just wide off the Hyderabad FC goal. Mumbai City FC were finding it easy to control the ball in midfield from the start and looked dangerous every time they went forward.

ISL 2022: Mumbai City FC play out entertaining 3-3 draw against ... (The Indian Express)

Hyderabad FC coach Manolo Marquez was quick to praise Mumbai and said the match was always on the edge and there was no clear sign of who could win or lose.

The possession between both teams was neck and neck at 51-49 in Hyderabad’s favour with Mumbai making 285 passes in their 90 minutes – only four less than the home team. For Mumbai City FC coach Des Buckingham, the six-goal thriller was one that could and should have been avoided. It’s the first game of the season. The result – one of the more exciting battles of the ISL season. As a coach, the heart rate may have gone a little bit high. I am completely sure that Mumbai City will be in the top four this season.
