The director and the actors make fun of themselves and their previous works and it’s done supportively. With the films he has directed, he has established his style of humour which rides on silliness. Today, he is a bankable star in the Tamil industry, who has several hit films under his sleeve. The point is to make you laugh for those few stretches, and maybe it’s a win… If you were to watch the film on OTT, you would have skipped the customary bridges that connect the good stretches, and you would still not miss anything. However, ‘conflict’ is a strong word for a film that doesn’t take itself seriously even for a nanosecond. It is so obvious that the hilarious stretches are connected by a generic thread about a love story between a Tamil guy and a Brit girl. The heroine Jessica (Maria Ryaboshapka) asks the hero Anbu ( [Sivakarthikeyan](https://indianexpress.com/about/sivakarthikeyan/)) to take her to a good vegetable shop. The moment you try to explain Anudeep’s sense of humour, you will end up missing the point.

It is not the first time a movie has been available to watch from torrents illegally. It takes a lot to make a movie and finding it for free online is unjust. 'Prince', starring Sivakarthikeyan, has a few funny stretches and some great dance moves but nothing more.

And then, there's our protagonist, who actually writes and signs a letter promising his father that he would marry only out of his caste. Maria Riaboshapka’s scenes are passable, and her dance moves in a song show promise, but there’s no meat in the romantic track. The jokes aren't meant to pull someone's leg, as is usually the case. It has two or three funny lines - most of which have anyway been packaged in the trailer - but the irreverent laugh riot that the makers promised in the promotional interviews seems to have gone missing. A British girl is sitting inside a Tamil household, and speaking with who could possibly be her future father-in-law. Prince is a collection of such 'jokes'.

He holds the film together with his charming screen presence and his knack of doing comedy is unmatchable. Prince, as the promos promised, ends up as a harmless romantic comedy. The film relies a lot on quirky one-liners and wordplay. When Anbu, a social science teacher, falls in love with his colleague Jessica (British), an English teacher, he hopes that his father would be proud of him to fall in love with someone from a different country altogether. Anudeep’s style of comedy is not everyone’s cup of tea. అది కష్టమనుకున్నా కనీసం ప్యానిండియా మోడల్లో తెలుగు నటుల్ని కూడా పెట్టుకుని తీసుండాల్సింది. అయినా కూడా ఈ జానర్లో అవి అలా పాసైపోయాయి. అది కూడా చాలా పాత పద్ధతిలో. సాహిత్యంలో కూడా కొత్త మెరుపులేవీ లేవు. అది కూడా కామెడీయే. అయితే "జాతిరత్నాలు" సింపుల్ గా తీసిన లో బజెట్ సినిమా అయితే, ఈ "ప్రిన్స్" అలా కాదు. ఎంత పాత సీన్ అయినా ఇది కూడా కామెడీలో కొట్టుకుపోతుంది... ఆ ట్రాకులో సడెన్ గా తెలుగు సినిమాలోకి హాలీవుడ్ సీన్ వచ్చినట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. కులమతాలకే కాకుండా, దేశాలు కూడా దాటి ఒక ఫారినర్ ని ప్రేమించినందుకు హీరో తండ్రి సంతోషిస్తాడు. కామెడీ కూడా పాత్రల స్వభావాల్ని పట్టి ఉంటుంది తప్ప రైటింగులో డెప్త్ అస్సలు ఉండదు. బెయిలు ఏ పద్ధతిలో ఇస్తారో కూడా తెలియని ఒక అమాయక లాయర్ జాతిరత్నాల్లో హీరోయినైతే, పేర్లు వినడమే తప్ప ఏది ఏమిటో కూడా బొత్తిగా తెలియనితనం ఇక్కడ హీరో తండ్రిది. ఈ హీరో సరసన ఉక్రైన్ కు చెందిన మారియా హీరోయిన్ గా నటించింది.
