I would want +179 (35.8% implied) or better to back “Do Bronx” at a 2% edge compared to my projection. 90% of Oliveira’s career fights, including 17 of his past 18 and 10 of the 11 wins on his current streak, have ended inside the distance. I would bet Rosa here, up to about -369 (78.7% implied) at a 2% edge compared to my number. 1 contender to face the winner of Makhachev and Oliveira. He hasn’t fought anyone near this level of competition and may struggle to make the proper adjustments. Chookagian has all the tools to keep this fight competitive and potentially win it. He should have a clear grappling advantage against Muradov, and I expect him to have success landing takedowns. Oezdemir has gotten wobbled more easily in recent fights, so I suspect Krylov may find a chance to finish on the feet against a fighter who is incredibly difficult to take down. The absolutely stacked UFC 280 card went down Saturday in Abu Dhabi, with two titles up for grabs, and a number of key fights.

Dillashaw had an uphill battle, revealing that he entered his title fight against Sterling with a significant pre-existing injury.

Sterling snatched a D'Arce choke attempt and wound up with a back mount. Goddard, according to UFC commentator Jon Anik, informed the broadcast team that Dillashaw's injury was disclosed to him before the fight. Dillashaw remarkably toughed it out, surviving rear-naked choke attempts and making it to his feet. Sterling mauled Dillashaw over the course of two rounds in which Dillashaw was afflicted with a recurring shoulder injury. It did not take long for Sterling to mount Dillashaw and land big punches. Sterling took down Dillashaw early in Round 1 and Dillashaw's shoulder appeared to pop out of place, eliciting a grimace from the former champ.

Makhachev got Oliveira to tap with an arm triangle in the second round to become the undisputed lightweight champion.

The only letdown of the card is that Katlyn Chookagian failed to make weight against Manon Fiorot in her flyweight bout. Dillashaw then returned last summer to defeat Cory Sandhagen in a five-round split decision, and he is set to check in for a wake up call -- one that comes to all fighters -- when Sterling remains a step ahead of him at all times today. Dillashaw will attempt to prove he is the same fighter that he was in 2018 when he successfully defended the belt against Cody Garbrandt. With all due respect to Alexander Volkanovski, the winner of this bout will be the pound-for-pound best in the world. Yan (16-4) has plenty of reasons to be frustrated by the decision, but O’Malley (16-1, 1 NC) put forth impressive rounds in the first and third. The exclamation point came in the third, when Dariush landed a massive left, one that could be heard from Abu Dhabi to Vegas. The most impressive shots took place in the second round, with a left hand from O’Malley that stunned Yan, who responded with a ferocious left. That leaves Oliveira in a tough position, likely needing a victory–potentially against Beneil Dariush–to re-enter the title conversation. Dillashaw (17-5) entered the fight in a compromised position, as his left shoulder kept popping out of its socket. While striking initially appeared to be an advantage for Oliveira, that was never the case in this bout. Nurmagomedov, of course, had a cage-side view for the fight as a part of Makhachev’s corner, and he was extremely animated during the victory celebration. Islam Makhachev forced the greatest finisher in UFC history to tap.
