He pointed out that there is a shortage of launch vehicles and this is a great opportunity for ISRO. Noting that this is a historic mission that was executed at the shortest possible time, he said the mission happened exactly as planned. This mission is being undertaken as part of the commercial arrangement between NSIL and m/s Network Access Associates Limited (m/s OneWeb Ltd), a U.K. LVM3-M2 is the dedicated commercial satellite mission of NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Department of Space, Government of India. He mentioned that the satellite separation is a slow process. With this launch, LVM3 has made its entry into the global commercial launch service market.
With this success on the OneWeb India-1 mission, ISRO put behind the anomaly experienced in its earlier SSLV attempt.
OneWeb is implementing a constellation of 648 satellites in the Low Earth Orbit. "Now the rocket has entered into the orbit, 16 satellites out of the 36 satellites have been already injected. Mission Director Thaddeus Baskar said, "the mission was a demand given to this team by ISRO Chairman to execute the mission in a very short time of less than three months." I also want to thank the OneWeb team for having confidence in us to host the LVM3...we are very hopeful that the next mission of LVM3 will do the same to place the remaining 36 satellites it has been contracted by NSIL", he said. Bharti Global is the largest investor in OneWeb, a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communications company.
OneWeb said it is committed to providing connectivity across the length and breadth of India by 2023. Nelco and Telesat too have completed successful LEO demonstrations in the country for enterprise, telecom and government sectors. The cryo stage was designed to orient and re-orient in orthogonal direction to meet the customer requirements of injecting satellites precisely and with a gap to avoid collision. This brings the total of OneWeb's constellation to 462 satellites, representing more than 70 per cent of its planned 648 Low Earth Orbit satellite fleet that will deliver high-speed, low-latency connectivity globally. The teaming up with NSIL and ISRO demonstrates OneWeb's commitment to provide connectivity across the length and breadth of India by 2023, it said. "OneWeb's commitment to enhance connectivity in India is backed by Bharti Global- OneWeb's largest investor," the statement said.

We worked closely with the OneWeb team to support this milestone launch, which has been accomplished in a record time of a few months, while also illustrating the opportunitiesfor satellite connectivity in India. This launch was made possible thanks to the hard work by our team and our partners at ISRO and NSIL, as well as shareholder Bharti Global. I also extend my gratitude to ISRO, NSIL and the Indian authorities for matching the precise schedule for this launch, which has been done in a record time.” This is the first ever commercial launch of LVM3 with a heaviest payload to LEO. The LVM3 was conceived primarily for launching geo-stationary satellites with a payload capacity of 4T, which can be used for launching 6T payloads for LEO. The cryo stage was uniquely designed to orient and re-orient in orthogonal direction to meet the customer requirements of injecting satellites precisely and with a gap to avoid collision.

[@NSIL_India] [@INSPACeIND] [@ISRO]on the successful launch of our heaviest launch vehicle LVM3 with 36 OneWeb satellites meant for global connectivity. The GSLV Mk III’s development began in the early 2000s, along with the development of the cryogenic upper stage, which ISRO has been attempting to develop in a bid to decrease dependence on the currently-used Russian design. LVM3 exemplifies Atmanirbharta & enhances India’s competitive edge in the global commercial launch service market,” he tweeted. The rocket, formerly identified as the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III (GSLV Mk III), is designed to primarily launch satellites into geostationary orbit at 35,000 kilometres. Former ISRO chiefs K Sivan and A S Kiran Kumar, as well as Sunil Mittal, founder-chairman of Bharti Enterprises, witnessed the launch from the Mission Control Centre. The rocket carrying 36 satellites was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota as part of the space agency’s OneWeb India-1 mission.
The LVM-3 rocket will also be used for India's maiden human space flight tentatively scheduled for late 2024.
"A GSLV – for the GEO orbit – will continue to be called so, but the GSLV-Mark III has been renamed as LVM3. "The rocket no longer goes only to the geosynchronous orbit. The LVM3 will go everywhere —GEO, MEO, LEO, missions to the moon, sun,” the official said.
