Though a victory at Munugode is inconsequential in terms of numbers in the state legislative assembly where the ruling party has 104 of the 119 MLAs, the bypoll has turned out to be a battle of prestige and precursor to the general elections scheduled for next year. Of the total 2,41,855 electors, 1,21,662 are male voters and 1,20,126 are female voters. Police are responding to complaints from not only political parties but also from the general public through its 45 special teams, said the police officer, adding that 35 flying squads of revenue officials and Election Commission are on the ground. Officials at the office of Telangana Chief Electoral Office (CEO) stated that 25.80 percent voter turnout was recorded by 11 am. He is now contesting on the BJP ticket.

Record 77.55 percent polling in Munugode bypoll (The Statesman)

A high drama, accusations and counter-accusations by the three key political parties and scuffles between the cadres of BJP and TRS marked the polling.
