Jamshedpur FC suffered another loss in the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23. As they went down 3-1 against Kerala Blasters in the away game at Kochi.

Coming back in the second half Ishan Pandita got an early chance to equalize from a one-on situation. But an unfortunate handball at the half-hour mark from Boris Singh inside the box led to a second chance for the hosts. In spite of the quick setback, the men of steel maintained their counter-attacking display.

The 3-1 win was capped off by a goal by Adrian Luna which was arguably one of the best this season, given the build-up play involved.

Jamshedpur FC will host Chennaiyin FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on the same day. Diamantakos made no mistake from the spot by sending the keeper the wrong way to give Kerala Blasters a 2-1 lead heading into the second half. Prabhsukhan Gill came out of his line to stop one of these attacks, but his clearance landed into the path of Daniel Chukwu, whose brilliant chipped effort from outside the box levelled the scores in the 17th minute.

Ratings: Adrian Luna shines as Kerala Blasters conquer ... (Khel Now)

Kerala Blasters find three foreigners on the scoresheet on their way to triumph against Jamshedpur FC in ISL 2022-23.

Struggled to read Kerala’s attacks and stop them from running the show in his half. The winger looked promising with a good attacking output. The selection was Vukamanovic’s big call and delivered a brilliant display by the “Back-heel God”. Was given more time on the ball, and was substituted. Scored a beautiful goal from a link-up play which was an absolute feast to watch for the fans. A deadly cross from him resulted in a handball by Boris Singh ultimately leading to a penalty reward for the team. His surging runs in the first half were impressive. Did his job pretty well and aided Sandeep at times. The backbone of the defence kept the backline intact through his experience and leadership. Even tried to clear off the Daniel Chima goal through an acrobatic attempt. Although he was dispossessed at times, managed to keep the defence intact through his blocks and interceptions. The young custodian had a dip in his performance between the sticks.

ISL Musings: Kerala Blasters' alien football, the agony of Ogbeche (ESPN India)

Plus...Roy Krishna and Sunil Chhetri struggle in front of goal, Cleiton Silva doesn't.

And he came back to haunt them twice - the second a delicious free-kick that was worthy of winning the game and having East Bengal leapfrog Bengaluru FC in the table. Not so lovely to see both Ali and Ashique Kuruniyan battle for miss of the season, though. - Lovely to see Anwar Ali get his first ISL goal, especially after the struggles he's faced in his career. When centre-back Odei Onaindia can find the net whilst slipping and falling with a first-time volley through a crowd of defenders, and Ogbeche can only earn 0.03 xGoT from his shots... Each of Hyderabad FC, Kerala Blasters and ATK Mohun Bagan won their encounters to keep their spots in the top 4, with Goa and Odisha still in the playoff places. There is a legitimate shot at silverware this season, the acid test of which will come in their next game against Mumbai City.

9 seconds, 6 touches, 4 players: how Kerala Blasters scored best ... (ESPN India)

Luna to Sahal, Sahal back to Luna, Luna to Diamantakos, Diamantakos' backheel to Giannou, Giannou with a backheel to tee up Luna and Luna scores!

The one-touch passing and bursts of attacks aren't new in the Blasters camp, they've been at it for the last six-seven games but missed the finishing touch. Sahal has been and is still among the most talented footballers in India, no doubt, but what's changed this season is that he's a lot more mature with his craft. And that's what led to the goal. Jamshedpur's Eli Sabia makes a desperate dash to stick a foot in but the ball is in the back of the net before he reaches Luna. The skipper played deep in central midfield for large parts of the game and was in such a midline-hugging position that you could mistake him for a defender. Sahal, who was at his wily best all evening, plays a quick one-two with Luna before the Uruguayan feeds it to Diamantakos.
