'It's not football' - Real Madrid boss Ancelotti slams Cacereno pitch ... (Goal India)

Carlo Ancelotti was critical of the poor quality pitch at the Estadio Príncipe Felipe during Real Madrid's visit to Cacereno in the Copa del Rey.

Yet Ancelotti refused to criticise him and once again pointed towards the 'circumstances'. I believe that when a field is bad, the teams that have more technical players need three touches and they need one to control the ball, so... "I was surprised that Ancelotti said this. WHAT THEY SAID: Following their slender victory, Ancelotti hit out at the field conditions: "You can’t play football on that. In the second half, they resorted to playing long balls which did solve their problem to some extent but not substantially. Ancelotti's troops tried to stick to their style of short passes in the first half but most of them ended up being under or over cooked which showed that they were finding it difficult to understand the bounce and pace of the playing surface.

Cacereño vs Real Madrid live online: score, stats and updates ... (AS English)

You'll almost certainly remember that Real Betis are the current holders of the Copa del Rey. They beat Valencia in a penalty shootout in the last final in ...

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening to you, wherever you are in the world! More teams have entered from the lower divisions and can live the dream of competing against clubs they would normally never face, while the higher seeded team playing away from home in a one-off cup-tie means there’s always the hope of a cup upset. You'll almost certainly remember that Real Betis are the current holders of the Copa del Rey. The former Real Sociedad defender hasn't played a single second of soccer this season (although he has been on the bench plenty). ‘Cacereño’ is both the adjective and demonym for people (or things) from the city of Cáceres, which is the capital of the province of the same name in the autonomous community of Extremadura in western Spain. Cacereño put this out on social media a little earlier and I'm hugely impressed by the playing of "Here we go, here we go, here we go!" They’ve spent the majority of their existence in the fourth tier of Spanish soccer, which is where they are now. And here, along with Real Valladolid's condemnation of the incident, is what LaLiga say they are doing about it. For most of the LaLiga campaign, it looked as if they might run away with it, especially after a convincing Clásico win over Barcelona in mid-October. The last time Los Verdiblancos (the Green and Whites) tasted defeat was all the way back at the end of October; the head into the clash against Real Madrid on a seven-match unbeaten streak. Cacereño have spent almost their entire history flitting between the third and fourth tiers of the Spanish league pyramid. Cacereño play their home game at Estadio Príncipe Felipe, which opened in 1977 and currently has a maximum capacity of 7000 people.

All of these players proved crucial to Real Madrid’s success in the years to come, all going on to have incredible careers. Jose Mourinho’s three-year stint at Real Madrid in the early 2010s will go down as one of the most polarizing periods in the club’s history. Simply put, Florentino Perez’s return to presidency in 2009 coincided with a period of growing domestic and continental dominance for rivals Barcelona.
