Reigning FA Cup holders Liverpool face Wolves in the third round of the competition at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp's side will look to return to winning ways ...

Liverpool are furious though as they were on the counter, but the advantage was not forthcoming. Again, it was a lamentable goal for the hosts to concede, with Alisson once again culpable allowing Hee-Chan Hwang’s impudent finish to squeeze through his legs. Salah dispatched with the minimum of fuss and you anticipated here that Liverpool would go and see the job through comfortably. Incidentally, that was the third of Wolves' four FA Cup titles. Here was a quite brilliant goal, one that you thought would give Liverpool impetus in the second period. A sense of lackadaisicalness in the air almost from the opening whistle. There seemed little danger when as he moved over the halfway line but, then, he delivered the most glorious cross to Darwin Nunez, who guided a first time finish beyond Matija Sarkic. Wolves, on the other hand, had no concerns about accepting gifts and they were visibly lifted. Lopetegui may have railed about Liverpool having extra preparation time but his team were fresher with their speed of thought and faster in how they executed their moves. They look reinvigorated and dangerous and will certainly fancy their chances of finishing the job at Molineux. They were the ones who played as if at full-strength, not the team in Red. Liverpool’s manager would banish them immediately, if he had the chance, but on reflection he must surely be relieved they remain part of the calendar.

[Liverpool](https://www.theguardian.com/football/liverpool) manage to work it back upfield and Salah pings it into the box. Liverpool are not having the best season and do look out of sorts from their form in the last few years but it would still be a slight upset if they were knocked out by Wolves this evening. 8 min: Robertson loses the ball in a dangerous spot but Jimenez can’t be found in the box, that was close to an opener. Right now Wolves are trying to get a hold into the match but it is all 30 min: Alexander-Arnold tries to find Robertson but has too much on it, Konate does his best to keep it in play but it is out for a goal kick. Watch: VAR controversy rocks Liverpool vs Wolves, denies Wolves a ... (Republic World)

Wolverhampton Wolves were denied a victory against Liverpool in the FA Cup 3rd round match due to a controversial VAR decision, as the match concluded 2-2.

Hwang Hee-chan scored the second goal for Wolves in the 66th minute. It is pertinent to mention that the controversial VAR decision frustrated Wolves as earlier in the match, Mohamed Salah’s goal handed a 2-1 lead to the home side despite him being offside. As the shot by Hwang traveled through the crowd of bodies and was turned over the line by a backheel flick from Gomes, the controversial offside decision kept the score at 2-2. We don't want the VAR to just have one angle. The Liverpool vs Wolves, third-round match at the FA Cup concluded with a 2-2 draw on Saturday night after Wolves were denied the winning goal due to VAR. VAR Review: Explaining the offside drama in Liverpool vs. Wolves (ESPN India)

Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers played out a 2-2 draw in the third round of the FA Cup at Anfield. This is what happened with VAR.

[Liverpool](/football/team?id=364) took the lead in the 52nd minute when [Cody Gakpo](http://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/249524/Cody-Gakpo) tried to find [Mohamed Salah](http://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/173896/Mohamed-Salah) with a ball over the top. There is no doubt Salah is in an offside position, but if the officials judge Toti's actions to be a "deliberate play", Salah cannot be penalised or offside. In this instance, the VAR wrongly became involved in the game to change a correct decision which cost Juve two points. But there were no camera angles that could be calibrated for offside for the position of Nunes and the last defender when Hwang heads the ball. [Liverpool](/football/team?id=364) and [Wolverhampton Wanderers](/football/team?id=380) played out a 2-2 draw in the third round of the [FA Cup](/football/league/_/name/eng.fa) at Anfield, but there were two controversial offside decisions.
