In Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke, Regina Cassandra plays the role of a fearless female cop who is willing to risk her life to serve the country.
Mita Vashist, as the head of the operation, is made to look like one of Kavya's subordinate. It also has a human touch when we see Kavya going through her divorce, and trying to get custody of her son. In Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke, Regina Cassandra plays the role of a fearless female cop who is willing to risk her life to serve the country. We also feel for her when she tries to fit into Mahira's team soon after a demotion. When the makers thought it is getting boring, they randomly introduced a bomb blast attack on the NIA in a hotel room. What disappoints us more is that a celebrated filmmaker like Srijit Mukherji has directed the series, and yet, could think of nothing out of the box. Sumeet Vyas as a terrorist is quite convincing and we also loved Gayathrie Shankar's performance of a misguided Muslim youth. There is an RDX, political leaders getting assassinated in bomb blasts, hard-working cops using their fists and brains to nab the accused. This is where we are introduced to Mahira Rizwi (played by Mita Vashisht), who is Kavya's superior. The Srijit Mukherji-directorial is predictable and offers nothing we haven't seen before. The terrorist duo is Tariq (Sumeet Vyas) and Thasleena (Gayathrie Shankar), who are radicalised by an unseen 'uncle'. The 8-episode action drama series, that also stars Mita Vashisht, Barun Sobti and Jihan Hodar, has released on Zee5.

Sumeet and Gayathrie aren't as convincing as the main authors of the terror operation. This part of the series is a bit heightened drama that falls a bit flat, once again arguing that a woman can't have it all, family and career. The eight-episode series improves after the underwhelming first episode which set up Kavya and the rest of the tale. However, while the series remains engaging, thanks to the two strong female characters, it becomes highly predictable as the story progresses. But the writers have written Kavya as a bit immature for someone of her position and stature. At times, the police seem ill-prepared to take on a pair of terrorists. But the suspects evade capture, and the police officer is left smarting afterwards. [Regina Cassandra](https://www.hindustantimes.com/topic/regina-cassandra) plays Kavya Iyer, who is also a mother and daughter, when not saving the country from terror threats and other nefarious forces. The action then kicks into high gear once Mahira Rizvi (Mita Vashisht) and her team at the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are introduced. The 'masterminds' behind the terror attacks are actually two people Tariq ( Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke review: Regina Cassandra plays a heroic police officer who will risk it all in service of the country. One such incident that causes many fatalities, gets her demoted to the police academy to oversee the trainees.

Films not working at the box office is not at all a statement on the quality of the film, it might be a statement on the psychological space where audiences are. Patriotism seems to be the flavour du jour when it comes to making films and OTT content. It travels the length and the breadth of India, we traversed from Shillong, He shares, “The USP of our series is that it is frontlined by a woman cop, and is a truly pan-Indian series. When you put it to a script and structure, it shows.” So when you make a film about them, when you have grown up hearing stories about their bravery and courage, you automatically become patriotic and get inspired.

She has a story that supports her anger and the need for revenge. Regina Cassandra is finally getting her time to shine as a leader in the Hindi base and she takes efforts to make it worthwhile. Even he/she is supposed to have a story. One of the most prolific examples is Samantha’s Raji in While there is scope for improvement, she proves that she has got the calibre to headline content on her able shoulders. Mita as a Muslim woman in a top position in the police force is a character so well used. Half of the twists and turns don’t land well just because it feels like we have already watched this happening multiple times in multiple espionages and thrillers which circled around the defence forces trying to save the country from a massive threat. There is a scope to build a three-dimensional story of a woman who has a lot on her plate but isn’t complaining. Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke is yet another attempt at telling a story of a woman winning the world but does it work as an entire product? Yes, there are outbursts frequently but she is human and she is allowed to be irritated considering the responsibilities on her shoulders. While this is how it is supposed to be and no other way, Srijit has been doing it for a long time even when it was a rare sight with films only casting female actors for just glamour. Amid this is her trembling personal life and she needs to balance it all.

The cat-and-mouse game she plays is gripping, and the series is well mounted and conceptualised. The two get together to crack a rogue, who has got a whole lot of RDX and has carried out two blasts with one in Assam killing the Chief Minister. The only Tamil words they speak is “amma” and “patti” (grandmother)!.

'Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke', starring Regina Cassandra and Barun Sobti and more, is a worth watch, but the plot still lacks newness.
As the story revolves around women taking over in the male-dominant society, Barun Sobti excels despite having a small role to perform. The character of Mita, a Muslim woman in a senior position in the police, is excellently used. It stars a female who has attained greatness in a male-dominated ecosystem as she and her husband battle for custody of their son as a part of their divorce.
