The [Brazil](/football/team?id=205) international can't carry Newcastle on his own and results had already started to tail off before he started his three-match ban, which ended with this game. But even if he does, Howe will have to choose between Karius and Darlow -- two keepers who have spent this season watching from the sidelines. But City has looked strong in the Champions League, cruising through the group stages and is the overwhelming favorite to win when it travels to RB Leipzig on Wednesday. But it faces a fight to hold onto its Spanish league title, with Barcelona leading the way at the top of the standings.

Owen went on to score over 100 goals for Liverpool, win six trophies with the club, and earn the prestigious Ballon d’Or award in 2001. After leaving Liverpool, McDermott returned to Newcastle in 1982 for a second stint. In May 2010, the midfielder became a Liverpool player, and he went on to make 47 appearances for the club and scored 2 goals. He was particularly memorable in the Champions League semifinals against Barcelona, where he scored two goals after coming on as a substitute. However, it turned out to be his only season with the Magpies, as he made a switch to Liverpool in 2016. Shelvey played a key role in helping Newcastle gain promotion to the Premier League in 2017.
