इस चुनाव में एनडीपीपी-बीजेपी गठबंधन दूसरे कार्यकाल के लिए प्रयासरत है और नेफ्यू रियो गठबंधन के मुख्यमंत्री पद के उम्मीदवार हैं. पिछले विधानसभा चुनाव में 26 सीट जीतने वाली एनपीएफ ने 22 सीट पर अपने उम्मीदवार उतारे थे, लेकिन उनमें से एक ने नाम वापस ले लिया और अब उसके 21 उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं. तो वहीं, एनपीएफ को 3 से 8, कांग्रेस को 1 से 2 सीटें और अन्य के खाते में 5 से 15 सीटें मिलती हुई दिखाई गई हैं. इन चारों एग्जिट पोल्स की अगर मानें तो राज्य में एक बार फिर से बीजेपी की सरकार बनने वाली है तो वहीं दो एग्जिट पोल में कांग्रेस का खाता भी नहीं खुल रहा तो वहीं, दो सर्वे में बता रहे हैं कि एक या दो. इसके साथ ही जन की बात एग्जिट पोल की अगर बात की जाए तो इसके मुताबिक, बीजेपी और एनडीपीपी गठबंधन को 35 से 45 सीटें, एनपीएफ को 6 से 10 सीटें और कांग्रेस का तो खाता भी नहीं खुलने वाला है. नगालैंड की जुनहेबोटो जिले में अकुलुतो सीट से बीजेपी उम्मीदवार और मौजूदा विधायक कझेतो किनिमी निर्विरोध चुनाव जीत चुके हैं.
