The market regulator found that there was a jump in the price and volume of Sadhna’s stock between April 2022 and mid-July 2022. These YouTube videos peddled false and misleading news to recommend that investors should buy the Sadhna stock for extraordinary profits,” Sebi added. Sebi explained that the individuals it has named were involved in creating misleading YouTube videos with false content about Sadhna’s stock to lure investors. “Once these unsuspecting investors entered the scrip, the said entities allegedly offloaded their holding at an inflated price,” Sebi said. The alleged misleading videos about Sadhna were uploaded on two YouTube channels -- The Advisor and Moneywise -- during the second half of July 2022. Videos about Sharpline were uploaded on -- Midcap calls and Profit Yatra YouTube channels – in the second half of May 2022. The case involves manipulation of share prices of two companies Sadhna Broadcast Ltd and Sharpline Broadcast Ltd. The value of the stock is then inflated (pumped) before they are sold (dumped) at a higher price. The reason behind the ban was alleged stock manipulation in a ‘pump and dump’ scheme via YouTube. The so-called Pump and Dump or P&D is a type of securities fraud.

The interim order said that the actor and his wife made a profit of Rs 66.99 lakh.

Once these unsuspecting investors entered the scrip, the entities allegedly offloaded their holding at an inflated price. These trades created an unnatural rise in prices. An analysis of these call data records and transaction details helped find a connection between the 31 entities named in the manipulation of scrips of Sadhna Broadcast. The list of 31 entities named in the matter includes directors of the registrar and transfer agent for Sadhna and a dealer of a stockbroker. False information on videos created an opportunity for violators to exit, making unlawful gains to the tune of Rs 42 crore in Sadhna Broadcast and Rs 12.14 crore in Sharpline Broadcast.

SEBI को इस तरह की शिकायतें मिल रही थीं, कि साधना ब्रॉडकास्ट के स्टॉक्स (Sadhna Broadcast Stocks) की कीमतों में हेरा-फेरी की जा रही है. रिपोर्ट की मानें तो इस मामले में अरशद वारसी ने 29.43 लाख रुपये, जबकि उनकी पत्नी ने 37.56 लाख रुपये का लाभ कमाया था. मार्केट रेग्युलेटर सेबी (Sebi) ने शेयरों की हेरा-फेरी के मामले में बॉलीवुड अभिनेता अरशद वारसी (Arshad Warsi) पर एक्शन लिया है. नियामक ने वारसी और उनकी पत्नी पर मार्केट में कारोबार करने पर बैन लगा दिया है.
