Hero ISL 2022-23: A detailed look at ATK Mohun Bagan (Indian Super League)

ATK Mohun Bagan have qualified for the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) playoffs for a third season running, despite not being at their best.

With the most assists (33) in Hero ISL history, Boumous has been one of the standout creative players in the league for the past few seasons. Someone to get into the box and someone who is going to score 15 goals a season. The reason why they have succeeded in this aspect can be credited to their strategy of playing with a low-block defence. Ferrando has persisted with Dimitri Petratos in that position despite the fact that the Australian has played as an attacking or wide midfielder for the majority of his career. Erik Paartalu's analysis: McHugh’s stability in the middle of the park has kept opportunities for the other sides at a minimum. Defensively they have been super tight and with the second-best defensive record, that is what they are basing their game around now. Erik Paartalu's analysis: The back four and the keeper have been their strength. They have registered nine clean sheets which are bettered only by Hyderabad FC and have conceded the second-fewest goals this season. The Spaniard has experimented with several formations this season as a result of recurring injuries and suspensions that have forced him to tweak his system multiple times. The backline’s ability to maintain their shape and mark with efficiency during set-pieces have made it difficult for opposition teams to break ATKMB down. ATK Mohun Bagan have qualified for the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) playoffs for a third season running, despite not being at their best. ATK Mohun Bagan head coach Juan Ferrando is in his third season in India, having previously managed FC Goa and is clear with the way he wants to play.

The Blasters dominated possession in the first half but couldn't get past Gurpreet Singh Sandhu in the Bengaluru FC goal.

Bengaluru FC responded instantly at the other end as Bruno Ramires got his head to a corner but sent it over the bar. I said that I don't want the whistle as well as the wall," Chhetri told broadcasters after the match. But I'm happy that we are through to the semi-finals. "Referee asked me if I wanted the wall or the whistle. The Blasters forfeited the match in disagreement with the decision and as Bengaluru FC secured a ninth consecutive win. I probably would have been the same, I would have been angry. Well, what did Vukmanovic and the Kerala Blasters players have to say? If any one of the national team boys in their team would have asked me, I would have told him to not leave the ground. There is no reason to believe that the Blasters wouldn’t have been able to turn the match or at least force penalty shootouts in the remaining 24 minutes. The Bengaluru players piled on Chhetri while the Blasters piled on next to John. The record states that Bengaluru FC beat Kerala Blasters 1-0 after forfeiture. “It’s a decision that the referee has made and it is a controversial one without a shadow of doubt. And then it took a turn for the worse. I’ve been told, I’ve been taught, ‘Do not leave the ground’,” Chhetri said. The Bengaluru fans were delirious with joy while a hush had fallen over the Blasters faithful. As the Blasters players went about setting up the wall, Sunil Chhetri chipped the ball over Blasters goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Gill, who had come off his line to give instructions to his wall. The Indian Super League playoff match between Bengaluru FC and Kerala Blasters had all the makings of a drab 0-0 played over two long hours before penalty shootouts would decide the winner.

As the sean ISL comes to a close, KBFC anf BFC faced off against each other. But this match comes across some never before seen scenes and contorversy.

It is a travesty that such a beautiful match had to come to an end in such a way. Kerala Blasters almost got an opportunity from a corner in the 33rd minute but failed to keep it on target. However, KBFC began to protest saying the referee did not blow the whistle and awarded the goal. KBFC came close in the 49th minute but Bengaluru’s goalkeeper thwarted the attempt. Roy Krishna almost scored with a header in the 24th minute but missed the target. The evening’s victors would play in the semi-finals.

Sunil Chhetri's controversial ISL goal: What does free kicks law say? (The Federal)

On Friday (March 3), a major controversy arose in the Indian Super League (ISL) football tournament when Kerala Blasters FC forfeited their play-off match ...

Oliver, who formerly served as a referee and is now an analyst, affirmed that the goal was correctly awarded when he spoke on Radio MARCA. “If, when a free kick is taken by the defending team inside its penalty area, any opponents are inside the penalty area because they did not have time to leave, the referee allows play to continue. However, an opponent who deliberately prevents a free kick being taken quickly must be cautioned for delaying the restart of play.”
