This will be on account of Ram Navami, which will fall after the holy month of Navratri as per the Hindu calendar. For those unsure about March 8, 2023, it must be noted that as per the official updates from NSE and BSE, all trading activity on the Indian bourses will resume on Wednesday. As per official updates, both National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will stay closed for all trading activity today.

Apart from Holi, there's one more holiday in the month of March, ie, Ram Navami which is falling on Thursday, March 30, excluding weekends.

Trading in the multi-commodity exchange (MCX) and the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Ltd (NCDEX) will also remain suspended on March 7 and March 30 for the morning session. Holi is celebrated across the nation as it is considered the victory of good over evil. In total, the domestic stock market will stay closed for 10 days including Saturdays and Sundays in March 2023. The currency derivatives segment, NDS-RST, Tri-Party Repo, Commodity Derivatives Segment and Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) Segment will also remain shut, according to the list of stock market holidays 2023 available on the official BSE website. The festival is also known as Holika Dahan. Stock Market holiday today: Nifty and Sensex will remain closed on Tuesday, March 7 for Holi celebrations.

Stock market holiday news: While most people are celebrating Holi on Wednesday, March 8, BSE and NSE have declared a stock market holiday on March 7.

Nifty50, on the other hand, rose 117.20 points and closed at 17,711.50. Adani Enterprises, Tata Motors, ONGC, NTPC and Power Grid Corporation were the top gainers on the Nifty. It will be open in the evening trading session. According to BSE's website, there will be no action on equity segment, equity derivative segment, SLB segment, currency derivatives segment, and interest rate derivatives segments today. [BSE](/topic/bse) and [NSE](/topic/nse) have declared a [stock market](/about/what-is-stock-market) holiday on March 7. There will be no trading activity on March 7.
