In truth, however, the freedom to choose the shift one wants to work is more of a bane than a boon. Manas Mahto and his family, who are natives of Jharkhand, do not speak the same dialect as the locals or, more particularly, the community to which the protagonists belong. He lacks technical know-how, which makes him weaker at the job, and is constantly at the beck and call of ratings and bots. 'Zwigato', which is set in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, focuses on Manas (Kapil Sharma), a former factory manager who was compelled to remain at home without work for months due to virus outbreak layoffs. Others, including a gas station employee and a delivery man, who could very well be the next victim in post-covid India that robbed so many people of their livelihood, silently witness the repulsive act. New Delhi: The latest film from director Nandita Das, 'Zwigato', is based on the alarming reality of the 'new India', where an aerial perspective of the country reveals immense opportunities just waiting to be seized.
Nandita Das' directorial 'Zwigato has finally hit the theatres. Is the film starring Kapil Sharma and Shahana Goswami worth your time?
His co-actor Shahana Goswami as Pratima is note-perfect and lets much of her silences and pauses speak for her undeniable talent as a consummate actor. On the face of it, the film presents itself as a story of an easy-going man who doesn't let his frustrations get the better of him too often, except, perhaps, when his dignity is threatened to be compromised. At the heart of her efforts is a tremendous will and desire to better their lives. She tries to accommodate her guests wholeheartedly, not letting her extra work come in the way of her eagerness to be hospitable. By using a trope that India is too familiar with -- namely, the food delivery apps, she lays bare the challenges of common people in a social milieu that offers few options for strugglers. A double-edged sword for the unemployed in India, the sudden thriving numbers of delivery services have led to a Catch-22 situation.
In their lead roles, Kapil Sharma and Nandita Das keep Das's slice-of-life film interesting even when Das's politics is overt and her storytelling inert.
"..Though it is not found specifically recorded in the remand application that further ED custody of the accused is required in connection with tracing out of proceeds of crime, it also cannot be ignored that the entire investigation of this case is guided only to achieve that goal and to find out the exact volume of proceeds of crime and the role of various persons involved in or connected with framing or implementation of the said policy," it said. "It has also been specifically submitted that during this period (of Sisodia's earlier custody), his mobile data has been extracted and his iCloud email dump has been taken and this email dump containing around 1.23 lakh emails is being analysed and it needs to be confronted with the accused and apart from this, one other email dump of the accused in possession of CBI is also to be received and put to the accused," the court said. The court, which heard the arguments put forth by the ED and Sisodia's lawyers on the AAP leader's custody, said in its nine-page order said that the physical custody of the accused appears to be necessary for his further effective interrogation, in light of the new or fresh incriminating facts or material which has surfaced during this period (of earlier seven-days ED custody) and also to confront him with the fresh physical records and digital data received or expected to be received as well as the witnesses or persons (cited by ED)."
Applause Entertainment's slice-of-life film “Zwigato” directed by Nandita Das released in theaters today but its slow pace was its major flaw. The film.
After watching Zwigato, viewers are likely to feel a desire to understand the struggles and lives of delivery workers on a deeper level, and perhaps even offer them extra support. The initial half of Zwigato was a bit slow, setting the pace for the storyline. The film could have delved deeper into the lives of delivery workers and evoked more emotion. Nonetheless, in typical Nandita Das style, the film succeeds in avoiding unnecessary melodrama and depicts the struggles of a certain class of society in a subtle manner. Nandita Das, the director, has effectively depicted the life of a delivery man in the film. The film follows the story of a food delivery rider who struggles with ratings and algorithms, exploring the lives of ordinary people.

The life of gig workers is great fodder for cinematic telling. The newspapers are riddled every day with tales of the plight of delivery personnel.
His Manas, weighed down by the burden of daily chores, emotes and converses with a perpetual tiredness. The performances seem restrained by the paucity of the narrative.
