दरअसल अंधाधुंध तरीके से हो रही जंगलों की कटाई और बढ़ते शहरीकरण से गौरैया की प्रजातियां नष्ट हो रही है. गौरैया की घटती संख्या से ईकोसिस्टम व फूड सिस्टम को भी खतरा उत्पन्न हो गया है. अब कांच के घर हैं, लिहाजा शीशे के घरों में गौरैया अपना घोंसला नहीं रखती है. फसलों को बचाने के साथ ईकोसिस्टम को ठीक रखती है. आगरा वन विभाग की तरफ से गौरैया को बचाने का संदेश ताजमहल के साये से दिया गया. बता दें कि पूरे विश्व में 60 फीसदी से ज्यादा गौरेया विलुप्त हो चुकी हैं, जो ईकोसिस्टम और फूड चैन को खतरा है.
