Nothing Ear (2) Review: The sound of music (CNBCTV18)

With the Ear (2), Nothing has not only made one of the best sub-10k TWS earbuds, but also one of the best out there that can compete with some of the best, ...

I, for one, am excited to see how the Phone (2) will shape up. The Nothing Ear (2) look remarkably similar to the Ear (1) with a few, transparent design flourishes that help it stand out. For a company that is less than three years old, with a release history of about two years, Nothing has come a long way. Touting its Clear Voice Technology, Nothing claims the Ear (2) can filter out 20 types of environmental noises. I for one am excited to see how the Phone (2) will shape up. This is by far my favourite feature of the Ear (2).

Nothing Ear (2) is priced at £129/$149 globally and will be launched in India at a price of Rs 9,999. The Nothing Ear (2) is also much more expensive compared to the outgoing model. The new Ear (2) are much more compact in comparison to the outgoing model.

Nothing's Revamped Earbuds Are Serious Contenders (WIRED)

Vibrant sound and longer battery life make these upgraded buds a better buy. But there are caveats.

Thanks to an IP54 rating for the earbuds and IP55 for the charging case, the Ear (2) are available for use in any realistic environment. It allows you to switch in-ear detection on or off, depending on whether you want playback to pause when you remove one or both of the earbuds or not. You’ll need to summon your voice assistant or brave the physical buttons to control volume, play/pause, and all the rest of it. The Ear (2) represent both progress and a viable option in a market that’s long been over capacity. [headphones](https://www.wired.com/gallery/best-noise-canceling-headphones/), the [Ear (1)](https://www.wired.co.uk/article/nothing-ear-1-review), launched halfway through 2021—but the replacement is already here. For starters, the looks are mildly individualistic—and that’s not easy in a product as necessarily small and functional as true wireless in-ear headphones.

Nothing Ear (2) review: Great wireless earbuds under Rs 10000 (India Today)

After about 7 months, Carl Pei-headed London-based Nothing launched the Nothing Ear (2) with a starting price of Rs 9999. Is it worth the money?

It is a bit annoying to charge the case in every two days and it is good to see that I didn’t have to face this issue with the Nothing Ear (2). Though the company hasn’t played around with the design much, all the minor changes it has introduced make Ear (2) a complete package. The Nothing Ear (2) could be pretty enjoyable for many when going for a run (or working out) if they listen to EDM or pop music. People who want bass-oriented earphones with a good balance of mid-frequency will love the Nothing Ear (2). The Nothing Ear (2) has one of the best designs in the market and I will tell you why. The Nothing Ear (2) snugly fits into my ears and I was never afraid of losing them because the fit is just perfect. The Nothing Ear (2) support pinch touch to control playback and once you get a hang of how this works, it works great. While the minor changes that Nothing introduced with the Ear (2) make sense and look good, it would have been great if the company had experimented a bit with the design. The case of the latest model is more compact and lighter when compared to the Ear (1). While the specs sheet of the Ear (2) looks good, what about the real-life usage? The company expects to reach more and more consumers with its new Ear (2) earbuds. [By Ankita Garg](/author/ankita-garg): Nothing has announced its next-generation Ear (2) wireless earbuds in India.

Nothing Ear (2) review (GSMArena.com)

At $149, the Ear (2) costs the same as the current price of the Ear (1), which originally launched at $99. The Nothing Ear (2) is its "first ever second...

The audio quality is unquestionably better on the Ear (2) compared to the previous model. At the beginning of the review, I said the focus with the Ear (2) was on improving the audio quality, and that was pretty much what I observed. It also worked well except that one time when one of the paired devices could only connect to one of the earbuds while the other was connected to both but as with other bugs this was fixed by putting the earbuds in the case and trying again. The Ear (2) can be controlled using the Nothing X app for iOS and Android or through the Bluetooth settings on a Phone (1). Setting it to the full 1Mbps bitrate on the Nothing Phone (1) causes it to start stuttering after a few seconds and become unusable. Overall, the Ear (2) feels like a downgrade in the design department, which is odd considering it was the most universally praised aspect of the Ear (1). The mid-range also shows considerable improvement on the Ear (2). The Ear (2) feels like it's trying to mimic that aesthetic with a third of the budget and ends up feeling like a knockoff in the process. The Ear (1) case lid also had a much more satisfying thump when closed while the Ear (2) lid always closes with a clank. At $149, the Ear (2) costs the same as the current price of the Ear (1), which originally launched at $99. The Ear (1) case had a smaller magnet and a wider hinge that made it easy to tell one side from the other. The Nothing Ear (2) is its "first ever second generation product," the company says, which is definitely one of the statements ever made.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, Oppo Enco X2, More: 6 TWS Earbuds That Can Challenge Nothing Ear (2). OnePlus Buds Pro 2, Jabra Elite 5, and more to choose from.

You get spatial audio with head tracking on the Buds Pro 2, making you feel as if you are in a concert hall, and even the audio quality itself can be changed as per what is best suited for your ears. The OnePlus Pro 2R are exactly the same as the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, but lack head tracking and wireless charging. While the Echo Buds come with a number of impressive features like good audio and call quality, solid ANC and decent battery life, the biggest USP of the Amazon TWS has to be the Alexa integration. That said, the Amazon Echo Buds are hardly a looker, and might not appeal to the masses with their looks. The only area where some might not think of the Elite 5 as too elite is ANC, which is decent but not absolutely noise-muting. OnePlus recently released its flagship TWS, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, and they have been very impressive indeed. With such brilliant integration, you would be able to use Alexa for even the tiniest of tasks. When Amazon launched the Echo Buds (2nd gen) last year, it faced a lot of heat for pricing the TWS quite steeply. Launched at the price of Rs 14,990 in July 2022, the Sennheiser CX Plus soon enough received a couple of price cuts which has now brought them down to Rs 10,500 on Amazon. Oppo's Enco X surprised everyone by delivering notably high-quality sound and excellent smart features at a surprisingly affordable price (for flagship TWS) with its Enco X TWS in 2020. Nothing claims to have added a number of features to the TWS, but that higher price tag places them in a zone packed with high-quality competitors from some very well-known brands. All said and done, these remain flagship performers and with IPX7 water resistance, can actually survive being in the water for up to 30 minutes.

The case on the Nothing Ear (2), though it is bigger than the case of the OnePlus, is lighter than the one on the Ear (1). The Ear (2) does 38 hours with a fully charged case and noise cancellation turned off, while the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 does 39 hours with the same caveats. The Nothing Ear (2) has a slight edge over the OnePlus Buds Pro 2. I just feel that Nothing has made a huge leap from their first-generation Ear (1) earphones, while OnePlus has taken a more iterative step. Similarly, if noise cancellation is key to your experience, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 provides more cohesive and consistent noise cancellation, even though the Nothing Ear (2) takes a massive leap from its first model. Like I said before, the fit of the Nothing worked better for me, but the OnePlus is also quite good. In features and performance, there is literally “nothing” in it between the two. But the fit, at least in my ear canals, was inferior to the Nothing Ear (2), which will make a huge difference in how one perceives sound. Two options that fit the bill are the recently launched Nothing Ear (2) and the new OnePlus Buds Pro 2, which have only been out for a few weeks. The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 have been tuned by Dynaudio and also has a sound profile designed by the legendary Hans Zimmer. The Nothing Ear (2) has a more trebly sonic profile, which means that it does better with music that has vocals, loads of guitar, and instrumentation, and works excellently with content on streaming platforms. The Nothing Ear (2) starts at Rs 9,999.

Nothing Ear (2) review: Getting a step ahead with the audio works (The Indian Express)

There is always room for improvement… even if it is nothing. That is exactly what Nothing is doing with its Ear (2) flagship wireless earphones.

[truly wireless earphones](https://indianexpress.com/article/technology/techook/how-to-select-truly-wireless-earphones-6535108/) in the market. However, I would have loved to see something more to justify the Ear (2) name. Listening to the 2013 remastered version of Hotel California as some black-eyed peas whistled away to glory in my open kitchen, I was convinced the Ear (2) can really cover most bases for regular users. The More Bass option clearly did not work for this kind of song and I found the sweet spot in the More Treble preset where the song sort of shone through. Being the first device from Carl Pei’s startup to get a second generation, the Nothing Ear(2) comes with a significant weight of expectation. But you can’t control the volume on the earbuds, nor is there access to a smart assistant like Siri or Alexa.
