Citing the developmental work done by the BJP government under both chief ministers, Shah urged the people to form the party's government with a full majority in the upcoming assembly elections. Stressing that Karnataka should be brought out of the "politics of manipulation", he said BJP wants to make the state a driving force of developed India, while the Congress looks at it as "an ATM that fills the treasury of its leaders". The popularity of the one and the political shrewdness of the other will be put to a stern test. In a bid to improve polling percentage in the next polls, the Election Commission of India has added 18. On his second visit to Karnataka in three days and sixth since the beginning of the year, Union home minister Amit Shah unveiled the statues Sardar Patel in Gorta in Bidar district and Jagajyothi Basavanna and Nadaprabhu Kempegowda in Bengaluru, the latter two icons of dominant castes in the state. Karnataka Election Schedule 2023 Live Updates: Assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on May 10 and the results will be declared on May 13, the Election Commission announced on Wednesday. He said the nomination papers will be scrutinised on April 21 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations will be April 24. The earlier this govt is dismissed, the better it is for the state and country. With its government increasing reservation for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Tribes (STs), providing internal reservation for Dalits and increasing quotas for Vokkaligas and Lingayats, the two major communities, BJP hopes to secure huge gains in the assembly elections. While the Congress released its first list of 124 candidates last week, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said that BJP will announce the list of candidates in the first week of April. "We have to follow the rules and the model code of conduct will not allow us to carry forward this programme," he said.
