When Lord Rama was in exile and searching for his wife Goddess Sita then he came across Shabri who was waiting for Lord Shri Ram for so many years. The Sita Rama Kalyanam was organised by the ISCKON temple at Sagar Nagar. A large number of devotees witnessed the wedding of the deity at the Rama temple in Ambika Bagh. Residents of many gated communities, apartments, colony welfare associations organised the Sita Rama Kalyanam on a grand scale.

Vijayawada: Sri Rama Navami was celebrated across the state with devotees thronging Lord Sri Rama temples.

Organisers offered free food and panakam (jaggery water) to people by arranging stalls at main roads in the city. Vedic scholars performed the wedding ceremony of Sita-Rama and conducted a procession with the festive idols. Around 130 pandals were arranged in Vijayawada to celebrate Sri Rama Navami.

"Thanks to the technology which helped in live monitoring the procession, crowd movement, and traffic flow," a press release said.

Senior officers descended to the field and ensured that the procession moved on. CV Anand monitored the live drone footage, CCTV feeds, and radio communications and gave timely instructions to the field officers. City police commissioner CV Anand paid a field visit to the entire procession stretch in the morning and encouraged the Utsav committee to start their procession early which it finally did at 1.45 pm.
