EaseMyTrip, in response, introduced discount codes 'NATIONFIRST' and 'BHARATFIRST' amidst the tense atmosphere. Indian tour operators are feeling the impact, with a considerable drop in bookings, leading to significant price reductions in Maldives tour packages.

The dispute has also caught the attention of international leaders, with China's President Xi Jinping expressing support for the Maldives. However, within the country, there is a debate among Maldivians regarding India's 'boycott.' Despite the ongoing row, the Indian market remains essential to the success of the Maldives' tourism sector, as acknowledged by authorities who extended a 'sincere apology' for the offensive remarks. The situation highlights the delicate balance between diplomatic relations and the tourism industry in the region.
