Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially opened the Khelo India Youth Games 2024 in a grand ceremony held in Chennai. The sporting event, aiming to nurture young talent and potentially prepare future Olympians, features 26 different sports with a total of 933 medals up for grabs. Athletes from the Reliance Foundation are eyeing significant success, following the impressive performance of the Odisha athletes in the previous edition.

The 13th edition of Khelo India Youth Games is happening for the first time in South India, with competitions spread across four cities in Tamil Nadu - Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, and Coimbatore from January 19th to 31st, 2024. The event kicked off with a colorful opening ceremony featuring cultural performances highlighting the diversity and richness of Indian heritage.

PM Modi, enthusiastic about promoting sports and fitness among the youth, emphasized the government's commitment to developing a robust sports culture in the country. The unique team championship format of Khelo India Youth Games encourages both individual and team achievements, contributing collectively to the overall medal tally.

In addition to inaugurating the event, PM Modi also launched projects worth about Rs 250 crores related to the broadcasting sector, showcasing the government's investment in promoting sports and fitness at a grassroots level. The Khelo India Youth Games 2024 not only aim to hone athletic skills but also foster a sense of national unity and pride among the participating states.
