This significant accolade not only symbolizes the growing bond between India and Nigeria but also highlights Modi's efforts to enhance diplomatic relations during his three-nation tour that includes Brazil and Guyana. The official award ceremony was accompanied by a warm embrace from the Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marking a fruitful encounter that commenced with a ceremonial welcome accompanied by a grand 21-gun salute.

During his visit, PM Modi engaged in official talks with President Tinubu in Abuja, where the leaders discussed vital bilateral agreements and laid the groundwork for future collaborations, with India taking a keen interest in strengthening strategic partnerships with Nigeria. Modi emphasized the importance of these ties, stating that India prioritizes its relations with Nigeria, a nation that has vast potentials and resources, making it a key player in the West African region.
