Brrrrrr! Delhi's weather is giving us quite the chill, with fog and smog joining the party! Are you ready for the frost bite?
As winter creeps into Delhi and NCR, the chill in the air is complemented by a thick shroud of fog and dense smog that’s causing all sorts of trouble for the residents. With the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for Monday, it seems the cold is just warming up! Each morning, the sun is having a tough time breaking through the fog, leaving many scrambling for additional layers and warming cups of chai to help fend off the cold.
Reports from various parts of the capital show dangerously low visibility due to the increasing air pollution levels, causing many to stay holed up in their homes, yearning for the warm sun. Sunday saw the appearance of the dreaded orange alert as the weather continued to fluctuate between cozy and frigid, making it hard for Delhites to plan their day. Not to mention the alarming levels of pollution that have turned the city into a veritable gas chamber!
It’s a triple whammy of cold, pollution, and fog wreaking havoc on daily lives, as the weather department warns that these conditions are likely to persist for several days ahead. The drop in temperature is expected to plunge down to a chilling 2-3 degrees Celsius in the north, leaving everyone wondering just how many layers of clothing they will need to step outside now.
As temperatures continue to dip, people have started embracing indoor activities and cozy gatherings, all while sneaking glances at weather updates. On a fun note, meteorologists recommend indulging in some hot samosas paired with steaming cups of tea – talk about a delicious way to stay warm! And did you know? Delhi's winter fog is known to cause a few missing warm jackets, as they mysteriously vanish after a night out in the smog! So stay safe, stay warm, and let’s see how many layers you can pile on this winter!
